San Diego weather: Gradual cool down into the weekend

The clouds are making their way back as the marine layer deepens and introduces cooler temperatures around the county. We can expect daytime highs to average a few degrees cooler than yesterday, with continuing cooling into early next week.

Our coast will see clouds through mid-morning before turning sunny this afternoon. The water is getting warmer averaging 66 to 70 degrees, if you are at the beach be cautions rip currents remain under a moderate threat.

The Monte Fire burning near Lakeside continues to reduce the air quality from Lakeside to Julian, the skies will be hazy over our mountains and deserts. Winds out of the west will become stronger this afternoon into tomorrow with gusty winds tonight between 25-50mph.

The marine layer will become more extensive, as it deepens. Light drizzle can't be ruled out Friday morning with low clouds and patchy fog for the coast and inland valleys.

Temperatures will continue cooling down this weekend, by Saturday it'll be 5 to 10 degrees below normal with cool weather into early next week.

Summer Solstice is Friday at 7:42 PM and while the weather cools down for the weekend, gradually warmer by the middle of next week.

THURSDAY

  • Coast: patchy AM fog, turning sunny - low 70s
  • Inland: AM Fog, turning sunny - low to mid 80s
  • Mountains: hazy, hot - upper 80s
  • Deserts: hazy, hot - 110
